OKKO Hotels Troyes Centre

We booked three rooms for our family on both the outward and return journeys between London and Val d’Isere. The breakfast was superb, and we liked the dining and bar area. The only snag was very slow bar service on the one night we tried to get a drink before dinner. The person serving seemed new and a little overwhelmed, so maybe it was just a one-off. We'd happily stay again, here or at other OKKO Hotels.

We woke up to a flooded room full of puke. It was the worst hotel room experience I've had. We've been waiting for a refund for our stay since 16 August, and still haven't received the money. The customer service was poor and the whole handling of it felt unprofessional. This "fancy" hotel seems focused on "good looking," but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to anyone. It was one of my worst hotel experiences, especially because of the very poor service.

The rooms looked nice and were clean, but the layout felt odd: the sink was in the bedroom and the shower opened straight into it. The staff were kind, though they seemed a bit clueless. For a four-star hotel, the service fell well short. We asked for a cot for our daughter at check-in, then at 10:30pm, four hours later, we were told they had “run out.” The only alternative offered was a changing mat for her to sleep on. Breakfast had a sign asking guests to clear their own tables, which felt more like a hostel. They didn't serve decaf coffee, but offered us some decaf capsules to make in the room. The toiletries were minimal, almost invisible, and there was no bottled water in the room, with “eco-friendliness” given as the reason. It looked the part but missed the basics, and didn't provide four-star service.

The view from the rooftop balcony over the city was lovely, and the hotel is right by the train station, across the road from historic houses. There’s off-street parking on a first-come basis. We thought the price was good for this level of comfort. The bedroom had a comfortable bed, a desk we used for our bags, an automatic light, a small wardrobe, and shelves beside the bed. A wooden screen separates the well-designed bathroom from the bed, and the toilet is fully enclosed. There are plenty of bathroom shelves and a good-sized shower. The premises are beautiful, and the dining and bar area has free snacks and coffee, plus complimentary local food in the evening. Breakfast offered plenty of choice: eggs, bacon, fruit, salmon, bread, cereal, yoghurt, and local cheese. Staff were helpful and spoke English. The hotel had opened two weeks ago. Highly recommend it.
