I was glad to get back on the road in the morning, after spending the night with my mind playing tricks on me. I left early and didn’t see a single person then, just as I hadn’t seen anyone when I arrived around 19:00. The check-in was through a machine, the car park was dark, and the place felt like a horror movie location. It was perfectly safe, but it didn’t feel that way, and I didn’t sleep well. Maybe it’s different in summer, but I wouldn’t recommend it to a solo female traveller breaking up a long drive, especially in a winter month like February. It felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. It was an odd experience, and I wouldn’t choose to repeat it.

The food costs a bit, but they give you free hot chocolate, and you can get by on plenty of it as long as you return the cups. The supermarket is free too, though it’s only 36 vertical miles to the nearest shop. Lads from a local fast food place offer free lifts, provided you look helpless and soaked, walking the wrong way down the motorway. The petit dej hotel was a wonderful time. The motorway view out front is breathtaking, with cars whizzing past day and night, mostly during the day. Free transfers also come from all the leading French garages and the RAC.

For a 60E motel, it had everything I expected. The room warmed up in 5-10 minutes, and it was very clean. Check-in took seconds at the machine, and you can do it at any time.

The rooms were bad and small, right by the highway, and the staff were bad too. Absolutely the worst hotel I’ve ever visited. Just awful.

The room and bathroom were very basic. The radiator was broken and hanging off the wall, and nobody gave me proper advice about nearby restaurants.
