Chateau De Massillan

There’s a broad choice of treatments, massages, and activities, with attentive, personalized service. I had a wonderful, relaxing visit to the Bio Spa in Massillan and would highly recommend it for some time to recharge.

The garden view is gorgeous, with birds and nature spread out like a giant screen. It’s a really pleasant setting. The jets felt too strong, though, and I saw people leave with red marks that looked like sunburn. There’s no swimsuit spinner, either. I’m not keen on flip-flops because they hurt between the toes.

Everything was well organized, and I had a really good experience at this great spa. The only snag was the rule against swim shorts. It didn’t seem to be enforced, since some people were wearing them.

The facial and body treatment was fantastic, thanks Hélène. The rest of the experience left me with mixed feelings. I had to call four or five times before I could reach someone, and at reception the staff seemed very technical and focused on their computers, with little warmth. I’d received the gift certificate in February and booked for November. Just before the treatment began, while I was already in the treatment room, I was told there’d be a €15 supplement. Nobody had mentioned that when I booked, and by then I didn’t feel able to say no. As I was leaving, I was told the treatment price had gone up, with a vague explanation about changes to the procedure or products. I didn’t understand it all, but I paid. For a place like this, that felt petty, and it left me thinking prices aren’t guaranteed. The treatment itself was superb, but reception, management, and customer service didn’t live up to this kind of establishment. I’ve had a warmer welcome at smaller places. I’m not sure I want to repeat the experience. A week after posting this, I’m adding that I emailed reception and management to explain my concerns, and still haven’t had a reply. Great...
