This place was a hovel that stank of dog urine, with awful furniture. The bed meant for an adult was just a foam block under an old, dirty cover full of dog hair. We raised the issue during our week’s holiday, but nobody offered a solution. We got no sleep because of back pain and the stench, and our premium-priced week was ruined. The two Spanish receptionists were no help at all. The residence is over 30 years old and has never been renovated. Pierre & Vacances customer service can only be reached by email, not phone. Avoid it at all costs.

We had a sea-view apartment, which was a real treat, and would definitely come back. The apartments are well maintained and have what you need for a comfortable stay. Reception staff were excellent and very professional.

Near Urrugne in the French Basque Country, this is a residential development out in the countryside. It’s very peaceful, with lots of lawn, views of the sea, a playground for children, and a few exercise facilities.

The grounds are lovely, with flowers and everything well kept, and there’s a little fitness trail below the residence for a morning workout. Some guests are lucky enough to get a sea view. It’s a quiet, family-friendly place in a good location. The pool isn’t heated, so summer is the best time to use it. There’s no mobile coverage at all, though, so you’re stuck relying on the residence’s paid Wi-Fi.
