Novotel Fontainebleau Ury

A quiet place to break up a long drive from Spain, with clean rooms and friendly staff. There’s a pool table, tennis, table tennis, a swimming pool, and other activities. I only found out about them the evening before checking out, so ask at the front desk. Meals and drinks are around the area’s usual hotel prices, and there aren’t many options in the village, so you’ll need to drive farther for more choices. I’d stay again, though the shower pressure was a bit weak.

The public areas make this hotel good value for the price. There’s a chilled water station and patio, plus great family facilities, including a play area, outdoor space with table tennis, and a heated pool. The room’s air conditioning couldn’t keep up on a hot night. The hand soap being mounted high on the wall, out of kids’ reach, is a minor annoyance I’ve encountered at all the Novotels we’ve visited. Breakfast had lots of variety, but felt overpriced for the quality.

The staff were young, professional, and very gentle, and little features in the room made for a good stay. It had a separate toilet and two doors between the bedroom and entrance, details that are quite rare these days. The place is very quiet, and the experience was very good overall. The hotel does need a serious refresh, though.

We stayed overnight while returning to the UK from the south. It was easy to reach and had ample parking. The hotel is bright and modern, with large rooms, though the air conditioning in mine wasn’t efficient on a very hot night. There are lots of sports facilities, including an outdoor pool, and it seemed popular with weekend visitors. Breakfast was excellent. We were lucky to catch a musical soirée on Saturday night, and dancing under the stars was magical!
