The old town of Uzes has a fascinating history connected to Bishop Richelieu. It’s also a good place to visit in August: during three days of festivities, the town’s inner ring is closed off and bulls are released. It’s great fun, without the gory scenes.

Right in the heart of Uzès, this is a lovely, idyllic place to stay. The hosts are so friendly, and breakfast was delicious. We’d love to return.
