I’d been to the hotel bar for drinks before, though the coffee wasn’t very good. The hotel has changed owners a couple of times in recent years, and I understand its food has some recognition in the Guide Michelin. When my friends were staying there, I stopped by one morning while they had breakfast. They were running late, so I got a café au lait from the machine and paid for it. Madame made a point of telling me, “The coffee isn’t free!” Later she told my friends that I shouldn’t have coffee there, then that I shouldn’t come into the hotel again. After that, I met them on the street. It didn’t feel welcoming.

The staff were pleasant and helpful, and dinner at the hotel was a real highlight. The chef clearly puts a lot into the dishes. Everything tasted fresh and high quality, and the portions were generous. We also enjoyed a drink on the terrace looking out at the mountains. It’s a lovely place to stop in a quiet but lively mountain town. We had a lovely stay.

We came back for a second visit and still think this place is a hidden gem. The owners were so friendly and did their best to make us feel welcome, even though our French was terrible. Every meal was a delight, and the food is far better than you might expect. We’d return just for the delicious Pleurottes (Oyster mushrooms). The chef is really talented. The hotel sits in a beautiful valley with plenty to do, and I’d highly recommend it.

A great place for anyone who needs to get away from it all. It’s right among the mountains, with fresh air, lovely views and plenty of quiet. The rooms are furnished in a very modern style, and both the staff and owner are extremely kind and ready to help. Definitely worth a visit.
