Les Chenevers

A strange, uncomfortable building and an awkward place to stay. Booking.com rates it far too highly, so don't trust the rating there. Bad experience.

This was a last-minute stopover. The only thing I liked was the nice terrace. Inside, the accommodation was dirty, especially the sofa bed and bedding, and the furniture and bathroom fittings were old. I also find it unacceptable that we had to register our ID cards to get the key. Far too expensive for what was provided. I absolutely don't recommend it.

I strongly advise against this property. The owners were extremely rude and unhelpful. We couldn't reach an agreement in our Booking.com messages, and they threatened not to let me into the apartment unless I paid the remaining amount, even though their listing said “pay on site.” They also said the €60 cleaning fee was optional in the listing, then charged it without asking. When I questioned it, they said it was mandatory and that I could deal with it. They required €45 for sheets, but at the room we found only one single sheet for three beds and one double sheet, despite there being five beds. If you're with friends, you obviously can't share a single bed. I raised this with the owner by phone, but she didn't answer. The mezzanine is about 1.40 meters high, so you can't sit up in bed, and nobody warned us. There were no dish towels or paper towels either.

The terrace had a beautiful view, but the host was rude and unhelpful. Before we left, she spent the afternoon messaging me that I'd booked only one room, even though I'd booked two, and seemed upset about it. When I asked what she was seeing because I was worried, she said it was a mistake and assured me both rooms were in the same building. On arrival, my parents were in room 303, but I couldn't find my room. I called her five times with no answer. After 30 minutes, a courier arrived and showed me the entrance at number 323, just down the road, with a separate entrance and staircase. Some same building. The refrigerator was off, and there wasn't even soap or a dish. When I messaged, she mocked me and asked when they were supposed to leave soap and turn on the refrigerator. Then she said the dishwasher was for dishes and admitted they'd forgotten to switch on the fridge. She ignored my calls but replied immediately in chat, demanding €165 in cash for final cleaning of both apartments within half an hour. I'd driven for four hours and had just arrived, wanting to get married, with no cash on me, so I made a bank transfer. Then she sent end-of-stay cleaning instructions, even though cleaning was included in the booking. They asked us to empty and recycle the trash, wipe surfaces, clean and put away dishes, strip the beds, and tidy the duvets and pillows, saying it was end-of-stay cleaning, not spring cleaning, and asking for basic etiquette and respect for the teams. For €165 for one night, I was expected to take out the trash too. I've never seen anything like it!!!
