We had the mushroom fondue and the regular one, and I've never had better fondue. It was LIFECHANGING. The raclette was lovely too, including the version with six choices. They brought extra toppings to try, though the cheese was great on its own. It came in a fun potato bag that kept it warm. The bags had their brand on them and apparently use cherry nuts to hold the heat. They were sold at reception and I really wanted one, but €50 felt too steep for a potato bag. Maybe I'd buy a few if the price came down. Later my friends played chess in the bar. Gaelic, our server, was really nice, and the genepi was delicious. The restaurant is fantastic. One letdown was the special cocktail of the week. It had all my favorite ingredients, but tasted more like meat marinade than a cocktail. I'd stick with the classics or wine.

The spa was a highlight, especially the rooftop sauna overlooking the town, and I also really enjoyed the massage. The hotel restaurant surprised me. I usually prefer to explore local places instead of eating at the hotel, but it was so popular we decided to try it. The raclette was special, with plenty of cheese, including an option with six varieties, and there were lots of other local dishes. Our room was spacious and modern, and the hotel is right in the centre of Val D’Isere. Every detail, from arrival to checkout, felt well looked after. Reception staff were kind throughout. Special thanks to Ilan, who went out of his way to help when we had a transport problem one morning. It was our own fault, and he didn't have to step in, which made his effort all the more appreciated.

We keep coming back to L’Avancher for the friendly, efficient service and the cocktails and mocktails. The wine list is great, and the food is excellent, even when we're in the mood for something beyond Savoyard dishes. One of Val d’Isere's best restaurants, and we're already looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed at the Avancher last week, Jan 2026, with a group of eight visiting Val D'Isere. Ylan and Morgane made the booking process effortless, offering advice by email and in person at the hotel. Our rooms were clean, a good size, nicely equipped, and had the slope views we'd requested. A big thanks to the bar staff for handling our many requests so well, and to the owner for coming out to see us off. I'd recommend the Avancher to anyone after a traditional yet modern hotel in Val. We'll be back.

I've been coming back every year for 10 years. It's a lovely place for couples, families, or friends, with amazing staff, a nicely renovated interior, and a very good restaurant. The bar is large and cozy, and there's a handy, spacious bagagerie where you can leave luggage and shower when arriving or leaving before you have your room. It has got expensive over time, but it's still solid value, and it's Val d’Isère.
