Maison hirondelles

We arrived late in the afternoon in the hot sunshine and were invited straight to cool off in the pool. Tress brought us icy wine, a big jug of cold water and crisps. There are comfy sunbeds, a shady seating area and table tennis, so it’s an easy place to unwind. I’d plan on staying two nights next time, especially with lovely things to see nearby, including one of Les Plus Beaux Villages. It’s also well placed for a stop on the way south, and there are a couple of beautifully furnished Gites too. Maison Hirondelle has boutique hotel style but still feels like a friendly family business. Tress and Patrick are charming hosts. The rooms are full of thoughtful details, from crisp sheets and elegant antiques to a good hairdryer, slippers, fluffy dressing gowns, proper wooden hangers and even a steamer for creased clothes. Patrick is a brilliant cook, so book dinner if you can. The food is superb and very fairly priced for its quality, though everything is prepared fresh that day, so you need to give 24 hours notice. Breakfast is great too, with fruit salad, yoghurts, meats, cheeses, croissants, brioche and baguettes. I can’t recommend the place highly enough.

The pool was beautifully kept, a lovely extra on top of the delicious fresh food, which makes sense with the owner being a chef. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean, and the owners made us feel so welcome. They even pointed us towards local restaurants and bars. I’d happily recommend it to friends and family, and I’ll definitely visit again.

Maison Hirondelles is a stunning place for a relaxing getaway. Tress and Patrick were so welcoming and lovely to us. We’ve just come home from an incredible stay and already can’t wait to return.

Dinner was fantastic, with local ingredients that tasted delicious and dishes that looked beautiful. The garden is so relaxing, with fresh herbs used in the cooking and flowers buzzing with bumble bees. The pool and loungers were great too. It’s a beautiful old dairy farmhouse, steeped in history, with walls full of memories. Antony and Sarah have thought of everything: super comfortable beds, lovely linen, high quality pillows and duvets, proper sugar instead of little packets, a Nespresso machine and a great selection of teas. Perfection!
