Appart'City Classic Valence

The staff were all delightful and helpful, which was a bright spot despite the upkeep problems. We booked as a group of 19 families and paid around 100 euros more per family for that privilege, yet they spread us across four floors instead of putting us near each other. Our sink was blocked, and the aircon barely helped. Reception said that was normal, but the room stayed uncomfortably hot overnight. The pillow was the worst I've slept on. The bathroom looked clean on the surfaces, but the grout was grubby, there was mould around the shower edges, and the corners were dirty. Breakfast was basic for the price, and there wasn't enough room for everyone trying to eat. The washing machine and dryer were filthy, so we had to clean them before using them. We paid much less in Paris for nicer rooms and a better breakfast.

The room didn't feel clean: my feet picked up dog hair and other unidentifiable dirt. The AC didn't work, which almost matched what I'd expected after reading reviews. The kitchen was a nice feature, and there wasn't much street noise. The front doors were closed when we arrived, and they only open at certain times, so anyone wanting to check in earlier has to wait on a bench somewhere. They also require you to book a parking space in advance and say they can't help otherwise. For us, using q-park on our own was cheaper. Like a lot of the earlier reviews said, this hotel is very poor.

The apartment was clean, well equipped, and big enough for the four of us. Everything was as expected. Parking was easy even though it wasn't at the hotel, and there were cheap options nearby.

We were booked for two nights, but left after just 15 minutes in the room. I can only speak for the 5th floor, but the hallway looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. There were big stains on the furniture that we didn't want to identify, and the carpet was full of holes and stains. It looked decades out of date, maybe since the 80s or earlier. The website photos didn't look like the 5th floor. Absolute dump. Can we give negative stars? Book at your own risk.
