Cerise Valence

Finding the hotel was a hassle. It's beside the main road but hard to see because Casino stands in front of it, and the approach isn't straightforward. More signs would help, especially in the rain or after dark. We booked online for two people expecting a double bed, but got twin beds. We were tired and didn't want to spend time complaining, which was a mistake. My husband said the bed felt narrow as soon as he lay down, then fell out during his first turn in his sleep. I was worried he might fall again and slept badly. If you're a larger person, those twin beds don't seem suitable for a 100 kg adult. The bathtub was too narrow for a larger person as well. It was clean, at least, so I gave it two stars. The place could be great, which makes the disappointment worse.

We had a very bad stay and definitely won't return.

The room was a pleasant surprise: there was a well-equipped kitchenette behind a door, so you could keep cooking smells out of the bedroom, plus a good TV with some channels available in English. The French windows were lovely, and the blinds kept noise out. The bathroom was a good size and came with shower gel, shampoo and soap. There was even a sweet on each pillow. Getting in was easy, with a secure car park behind an automatic gate. The reception was bright, welcoming and spacious. My French is terrible, but the staff were polite, helpful and spoke English very well. A supermarket about 200m from reception made it easy to pick up what we needed for cooking. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful and had a decent choice, though somewhat limited. In hindsight we'd have preferred to cook ourselves. The tea was lovely. All in all, a good hotel.

The room itself was good, with a little kitchen and everything. But the bed was small for two, and the bathroom sink hadn't been fixed before we arrived, so brushing our teeth left water everywhere. There was no fan in the room either. We arrived late and couldn't ask anyone about it, and it was a bit disappointing not to get a discount or breakfast after cleaning up their bathroom at midnight. :/
