Mercure Valenciennes Centre

We stopped in for drinks and found a fantastic bar, with great beers and excellent service. Recommended.

The rooms felt fairly new and comfortable, though the standard ones aren’t especially roomy. We’ve stayed in Valenciennes before and knew this hotel’s central spot would suit us. On arrival, we unloaded at the entrance and checked in after a brief wait. There’s no hotel parking, so we used paid spaces on nearby side streets, about one or two streets away. The shopping centre garage next door is another paid option, and everything is close enough to walk. Staff were attentive and helpful. I’m especially grateful to the receptionist who gave me two eggs to take to my daughter’s house, since the shops were shut on Sunday. We stayed two nights at the end of February 2023. One drawback: the air conditioning is loud, so leaving the heat on overnight means putting up with the noise.

A comfortable place, and breakfast had a decent choice. Parking can be a little awkward because the street is busy, though there’s public parking right beside the hotel. The toilet paper could be better 😅

Right in central Valenciennes, with clean, pleasant rooms. Breakfast runs from 6 to 10am, and checkout is by noon. A few things need attention: there was mould in the fridge, the air conditioning control panel was damaged, and the sash was dirty. Only one receptionist could speak English.
