There’s plenty to see around the region, from the historic coastal towns to places inland. Cannes is easy to reach by bus, with a one-way ticket costing just one euro per person, and the Leclerc hypermarket is a five-minute drive away. The cottage is a pretty, spacious place in a quiet spot with an ideal location. It’s fully equipped, clean, and well maintained. The owners live upstairs and use the upper part of the garden behind the house, while guests have the ground floor and lower garden. The owner is helpful and happy to offer suggestions based on what you’re interested in. From the property, you can enjoy the varied greenery and watch the parakeets. They’re considered pests because there are so many and they damage crops and other gardens, but since we’re not used to seeing them, we found it quite an exotic experience. The beds are good quality, the essential appliances are there and work, and the sofas are comfortable. The TVs are large flat screens. The ceramic hob was fine, though the fridge felt a bit small for food for four people. One downside was the internet. Wi-Fi only worked in the living room, and the connection was very poor. Teens who can’t be without their phones, take note. We were also eaten alive by mosquitoes, whether that was just a one-off or not. We had to buy repellent at the pharmacy, and they still bit through our T-shirts.
