B&B HOTEL Vannes Est Golfe du Morbihan

For a simple, good-value base near Vannes, this place worked well. The room was clean, with a double bed, air conditioning, and an in-room toilet and shower. It’s built in a US motel style, with ground and first floors reached by stairs, and plenty of free parking around the building. The hotel sits just before the city ring, near a Metro super store. You can walk to downtown in about 40 minutes or drive to the underground parking by the port, where the seawater canal meets the town. Park there and enjoy the food and drinks in the small downtown area, then head back to the hotel when you’re ready to rest. Vannes itself is a small city in Bretagne, France, with lovely old multi-storey timber houses in the centre.

The breakfast was fine, though I would have liked it a little hotter. I couldn’t tell how long it had been sitting out. As with other B&B stays I’ve had, the room was perfectly adequate for a stopover, and this one is a short drive from central Vannes. It’s easy to get to the quayside for a stroll and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The B&B experience has generally been very good for me, and the locations are usually close to an accessible route.

The breakfast was very meagre: it came in a paper bag with one croissant, a slice of white French bread, one tiny packet each of jam, chocolate spread and butter. Coffee was served in a cardboard cup. There were no trays, even though the breakfast could have been eaten at a table, and the tables weren’t disinfected because staff were busy packing the bags. The room and bathroom were very small, with nowhere to put suitcases. Internet was extremely slow and had already been disconnected by 7 am the next day.

I checked in through the app, and both the room and bathroom were very clean. The one uncomfortable part was that the cleaner came into the room without knocking.
