Le Val d'Escreins

Breakfast was mediocre, and the Saturday night tartiflette barely deserved the name. The room was run-down, the hotel shabby, and the heating didn't do enough. The owners, especially the housekeeper, came across as very aggressive and unfriendly. A really disappointing stay. Honestly, steer clear.

The only good parts were the lovely view from the rooms and the evening meal staff, who were genuinely kind and pleasant. The rest of the stay was a letdown for a place aimed at young people. Some door handles were already broken when we arrived, although we were told they were just loose. There was cannabis smell all night, and people were smoking without much control, which felt unpleasant and unsettling. The rooms were cold because the heating wasn't enough, and the sheets were too small for the mattresses, so sleeping was uncomfortable. There was mold in the bathrooms despite the place apparently having been "repainted." At checkout, we were blamed for breaking handles that were damaged before we got there, and they tried to charge us for it. That was completely unjustified. With better upkeep, hygiene, seriousness, and transparency, the place could be much better.

The camp was EXCELLENT!! The atmosphere was so welcoming, with smiles and lots of good humor. Everything we ate was homemade and delicious, absolutely perfect. Thanks to the whole team for being so kind to us teenagers and to our counselors during our stay from February 7th to 15th.

The bar is really nice if you like cocktails, and there's a pool table and darts too. Claude gave us a wonderful welcome, and the whole team made the chalet feel warm and family-friendly. It was clean, and the chef and his assistant made us some delicious food. Highly recommended. Sophie and Laurent
