Camping L'Imprévu

We arrived with our bikes and were able to get a nice patch of grass at short notice. The tents are tucked behind bushes, away from the noisy sanitary buildings, and there are benches nearby. The facilities are simple, but clean and have what you need. After the rain, the drying room was especially useful for our wet clothes. It’s a peaceful, natural campsite in a beautiful mountain area, and it wasn’t too expensive. There are lovely wooden cabins too, which seem well suited to bad weather. I didn’t see any shops in the village itself, but the next village over has several, including a great bakery on Saturday morning and a small market. I enjoyed camping here :)

The kids’ play area is just beyond the snack bar by the pool, so everything’s close together and it’s easy to keep an eye on them while you relax. There are plenty of loungers around the lovely pool, even in the middle of August. The staff were friendly, and there was good entertainment on some evenings.

Our French is practically nonexistent, but the owners and staff made it easy for us to communicate, and we had a great time. The location is fantastic, just a few minutes from Vizille and several mountains, including the mythical Alpe D’Huez. We spent a week in a chalet with three small kids. At first it seemed small, but it turned out to be very functional and had everything we needed. There’s a well-stocked little grocery store with fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, cold cuts, and fresh bread. The pool was good too, and so was the bar and restaurant beside it. It’s an absolute gem and terrific value for money.

The owner was kind and attentive, and the chalet was clean and comfortable. I stayed there for three nights. It was lovely waking up in the quiet countryside before heading to work. Remember to bring your shampoo.
