The pool cleaner was the most helpful person there. He came every few days to clean the pool and feed the fish in the decorative pond. He didn’t speak English, but he was friendly and did whatever we asked. The property itself, though, feels badly in need of maintenance for what you pay. The garden furniture is near the end of its life, and broken appliances have been left in the laundry room instead of being thrown out. Maybe things would be better if the place were still run by its owners, but the management company didn’t seem especially caring. There are only three double rooms that meet the standard most people would expect at this price, all at the back of the property. The poolside apartment could be another decent double if it had air conditioning. The upstairs rooms in the main house fall well short. Two are almost open to each other, so adult couples would have very little privacy. The third looks more like a children’s playroom than a proper bedroom for adults. None of those rooms has air conditioning, and even with fans they all became uncomfortably hot during our August stay. On arrival, the property wasn’t ready. We were firmly told that was our fault for being 15 minutes early, although it was clear that much more than 15 minutes of work was still needed. The handover didn’t tell us much. Some of that may have been because we don’t speak French and the manager’s English wasn’t very fluent. A few years ago, perhaps soon after the redesign, this might have been a lovely place to stay. It’s now quite run down, and the advertised capacity seems exaggerated. We were all close family, so we made it work and had a great time. With a different group, though, there could have been problems. The current reality doesn’t match the luxury suggested by reviews from a few years back.
