Gite La Raymondiere

The Wi-Fi was the one small disappointment, the signal was very weak. We had a lovely time celebrating our 60th wedding anniversary with family in such a peaceful setting, and the welcome was warm. Many thanks to the Maury family for a fantastic weekend.

The owners were wonderful and did all they could to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. We rented the small hall, two cottages and the dormitories at La Raymondière for a family celebration over Easter weekend. Everything was perfect, and we were very happy with our stay. It’s a peaceful, pretty place. A big thank you to the owners.

The place looks magnificent in the photos, and the grounds and rooms are beautiful at first glance. But we arrived the day before our wedding on December 6, 2025, which we’d rented the whole estate for at €1600, to find it dirty and poorly maintained. The reception hall still had confetti from the previous event. The kitchen was in a deplorable state, with dusty cupboards and uncleaned dishes and plates. The refrigerators also held the owners’ personal food, taking up a large part of the space, even though we’d paid for exclusive use of the entire venue. The bedrooms and bathrooms were shocking too: mold in the showers, dirty grout, cobwebs in the rooms and showers, and an overall sense of neglect. It was clear that regular maintenance wasn’t being done. We had to ask numerous times before the heating was turned on. Electric radiators were added in a rush and caused a partial power outage. The electrical installations were substandard, with faulty outlets and lights that didn’t work properly in some rooms. Then, during the evening, a significant water leak appeared in the hall ceiling. The owners were on site but unreachable. We made more than 10 calls and went to their residence, but got no response. We were left to deal with these abnormal, stressful situations ourselves. This venue has enormous visual potential, but it’s neglected, poorly maintained and not at all worth the price. These shortcomings partly ruined what should have been one of the best days of our lives. We absolutely don’t recommend this venue and would advise against holding an event there.

The farm-style meal was excellent, and the owners were dedicated. We had a fantastic weekend and received a warm welcome. Highly recommended!
