Hotel du Cheval Rouge

I've been staying at the Cheval Rouge for over 20 years. It's a modestly priced three-star former coaching inn, and the service is good for the price. Rooms are spacious and clean, though not luxurious. The hotel sits on a corner of Versailles Market, a superb spot for visitors to Versailles and its Palace. Go through the arch into the market square for a huge range of restaurants and bistrots, plus a lively market with great-quality fresh produce.

The breakfast room has a lovely old-school Versailles feel, and there's a cute French garden right in the middle of the courtyard. We were warmly welcomed and the service was top notch. It's right in the city center, which was super convenient for my spouse and me since we prefer walking around town to taking transportation. The rooms are cozy and you get your money's worth. A great budget-friendly stay with friends or family. Would recommend ;)

The location was great, just ten minutes from Versailles palace, right in the middle of great bars, restaurants, and an amazing market. The secure parking was a great bonus at ten euros a night, rather than leaving the car on the road. I wasn't sure at first whether we'd been given the superior room we'd booked. The staff kept it really clean and tidy, though the place could use some updating, with a bit of paint and new carpets. I'd return.

There's a car park, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean, with a modern, clean shower room, and breakfast is good. Lots of places to eat and socialize just outside. It's a great-value base for visiting the Chateau of Versailles, no more than a 15-minute walk away. The rooms are on the small side, but fine for a couple of nights.
