L'Hostellerie Moulin des Oliviers

We were a bit concerned about noise mentioned in other reviews, but didn't hear anything disturbing, even though our room was above the breakfast area. The staff provided excellent service and handled our questions and requests quickly. We also enjoyed an amazing restaurant experience with a marine menu. The room upgrade was a nice touch, and the location, views, and hotel grounds are truly beautiful. The spa area is nice and available to use any time during the day.

The staff were very friendly, and the hotel was clean. For what it costs, though, some important things need attention. The rooms are very small, and both the toilet and shower had issues. It took around 5-10 minutes for the water to get warm, which isn't acceptable at this price. Our room had a beautiful view, but sat directly above the restaurant. We could hear cleaning and tables being moved late at night and again around 7 a.m., and it woke us several times. There are also very few sunbeds, and you have to pay and reserve ahead. Everything was already booked for the next five days when we arrived. One day five beds sat empty from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; only when we asked did we learn those guests hadn't shown up. Such a waste. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a lovely beach and great food. The Michelin-starred restaurant was amazing, honestly one of my favorites among the 22 I've tried.

The bed was extremely comfortable, the linens felt top quality, and there were plenty of big, fluffy towels. I also loved having all the pools close to the center of the hotel. The views are nice, the restaurant food is good, and the private beach is a nice touch. The showers are less successful than they look. The rain head mixes hot and cold water from separate spigots, and there's no shower door, so steam and some water go into the room.

The hotel is quiet and romantic, but there's a lot of stair climbing throughout the property, which wouldn't be convenient for elderly or disabled guests. A car is definitely needed to get into town or reach nearby attractions. The spa is small, cozy, and very nice, with guest numbers limited to avoid crowding, so booking a time ahead is best. Rooms have lovely terraces and beautiful views, and are modern and well equipped, though tiny. Larger guests might find their shoulders touching the walls while using the toilet. The bar is cozy too, with a stunning view. We booked sunbeds for the whole stay, which was practical. The beach is small and private, with little pebbles rather than sand. The food at La Paillote was good, and La Verrière and the especially cozy La Table du Moulin were decent too, though bring mosquito spray. The hotel has a luxurious design and welcomes dogs. Staff were generally nice, service was good, and breakfast was excellent. My only small complaint was the plant based latte: they added cold oat milk straight to the coffee, since they didn't have a steamer or other equipment to froth it.
