We spent a week in the safari tent and really loved it. Hans & Eva are interesting, welcoming hosts, and the place feels wonderfully raw and natural, set on steep, challenging ground. With little kids, you need to keep them close. Ours were 4 and 6, and they couldn't just wander off, but with an eye kept on them, or with older children, there’s plenty for them to explore.
Everyone in our cycling group agreed La Donzelenche was one of the best places we'd stayed. The communal dinner was a highlight, especially the roast lamb they raised themselves. We can't recommend it enough, and will most likely return for a longer stay and to follow the creek or river at the bottom of the property down the valley.
The owners were so friendly and helpful, and there's a lovely spot to swim in the river. The camping area is calm and peaceful, with pitches on terraces that can be a bit hard to reach. For us, that was part of its charm. The sanitary block is small but very clean. We hope to return.
We loved the meals and the lovely feel of the courtyard. This is a magical place, with a sleepy, wild charm. The property had been somewhat dilapidated, but has been lovingly restored and brought back to life. Eva and Hans are warm, attentive and friendly. If peace, nature and a slower pace are what you're after, it feels just right.
The view from the terrace with a glass of wine was simply wonderful. We felt at home both before and after our donkey trek, thanks to the warm welcome from Eva and Hans. The property has the charm of an enchanted farmstead, and Hans, a fantastic amateur chef, made incredibly delicious meals. Such a dreamy, idyllic place. We'll be back! 😘
