Hôtel Ibis Lyon Sud Vienne Saint Louis

The breakfast was great and the beds were comfortable, though I kept having a battle with the sheets to get them right. One specific problem: the toilets are so high that I couldn't put my feet on the floor. The hotel feels a bit old, and the air conditioning was stronger than I like, but the staff adjusted it for me again and again and even helped me change rooms. They kept checking that I was having a good stay, which I really appreciated, especially over a long visit. Parking is possible, but big cars are a definite no. There's only just enough room, and although I got used to it after two weeks, it was a real challenge at first. It wasn't a perfect stay, but the staff were so attentive and helpful that I can't rate them below five stars. I'd stay again despite the problems.

I made good use of the coffee machine, and the room was a decent size. The staff were polite and really helpful, and I enjoyed sitting in the courtyard. The bar has plenty to choose from. It takes about a ten-minute walk to reach the train station, which I learned on my first stay last year. Around town, you can wander past Roman architecture, historic buildings, and gorgeous churches. I left the window open at night because the AC was locked on heat at 26°C and the controls wouldn't let me change it. To be fair, I forgot after the first night to bring it up.

The staff were friendly, and my room was clean with a nice river view. Street traffic was quite loud because the windows aren't well insulated. Breakfast was terrible: the baguette was still frozen inside, and the scrambled eggs from a packet were runny and hadn't been fried.

I accidentally confused the city's two ibis hotels, and the receptionist spontaneously put a lot of effort into cancelling the booking I'd made at the wrong one. I got a room with a wonderful view, and everyone was kind and helpful. A quick call half an hour before checkout was enough to extend it by an hour.
