When our camper van broke down last July, the people at Arche Hotel really helped us out. They managed to squeeze us in despite being nearly full, and they were friendly and spoke English very well, contrary to what another review said. The room was clean, and the air conditioning was great during the heatwave. The halls had fun movie posters, including Elvis and Marylin Monroe. A quirky place, and good value too.

Our room had actual bugs in it, the sort that looked like they belonged to the Paleolithic. The whole place was dirty, and the receptionist didn't know English. Even after we showed proof of the bug problem, they refused to refund us. Staff treated us as if we weren't human just because we were tourists. It was a nightmare. I hope the place gets what it deserves.

The attached bar and diner weren't operating, even though it was the season. The 1950s cinema theme is a typical example of kitsch that wears thin and starts looking tatty. The hotel needs a makeover.

The location near the city center is handy. Service was perfect, and the rooms, though a bit small, were decent.

The RAC found me this hotel after my car broke down, and they got me a room at very short notice. It came to the rescue in a bit of a crisis. The room was clean and tidy, the fan worked, and the receptionist was helpful. I ate out while exploring the town, so I didn't try the food here. It's close to the river and town center, and I'd recommend it.
