Breakfast was a real highlight, with plenty of choice and homemade jams and rillettes. The owners are kind, helpful, and genuinely interested in their guests, and they know the area well and have good ideas for places to visit. The bedrooms and house were spotless. We’ve stayed several times, both as a couple and with our family, and would happily come back. There’s a lovely apple orchard and a big pond in the delightful gardens, and you can see the owners’ cows and poultry behind the house. It’s off the beaten track, but a very good place to stay.

The peace and quiet were absolute, and the Norman-style breakfast came with homemade rillettes and jams. The regional decor was tasteful, the rooms were a good size, and cleanliness was good. The high ceilings did make me wonder about the heating. I also enjoyed talking with the owner over breakfast, though the rather unfriendly welcome at first was unexpected for a B&B. A few things fell short of the intended comfort: the spring mattress was too firm for me, the towels were small and only average quality, and there wasn’t a discreet bedside lamp for the other guests. There was no toilet paper holder, and too few outlets for charging phones and other devices. The free Wi-Fi was unusable, and there was barely any cell signal, so this is a place for people wanting to disconnect from the digital world.
