Domaine d'Esquirol

The cottage is lovely, and the place has remarkable potential, but it needs much better upkeep. I rented the independent cottage for a week at the beginning of July. The wooden deck around the pool was in very poor condition, which felt especially concerning with children. The pool also needs maintenance, and a thorough cleaning would make a big difference. The owners were friendly but seemed absent, and I only saw the husband. I was also disappointed that no information was offered about the many activities in the area. I thought breakfast might be available, but nothing was offered to us. With a better-kept pool and a good clean, I wouldn't hesitate to give it five stars, because the place itself is so lovely.

We were welcomed with a smile, then had a wonderful evening by the pool and in the summer kitchen. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and comfortable, and we slept well. Breakfast was very good and plentiful, with lots to choose from.

The setting is nice, and the owner was very pleasant, which is why I can still give it a reasonable three stars. But for the price, the service doesn't match up. The pool wasn't heated, and breakfast was decent but repetitive. In the Poppy room, the bedding was warped, and the bed base or mattress kept shifting toward the middle. After six nights, that got quite unpleasant. Soundproofing was poor too, so we clearly heard noise from the adjoining room in the morning and evening. Our room wasn't cleaned during the stay. A maximum price of €65 would fit the service better. It's a shame, because the place has potential that isn't being fully used. I hope this feedback helps bring about positive changes.

We had a superb welcome and a lovely stay from August 9th to 15th. The setting was magnificent, and our room was spacious. Breakfast was homemade, with fruit juice and fruit salad. I highly recommend this charming place!
