Hotel Le Regent

I first heard about Hotel Le Regent from the BBC MERLIN TV SERIES DVD box set for series 1. In the special features, Bradley James and Angel Coulby walk through the hotel and town, and explain that the Merlin cast stayed here while filming. My parents and I booked a week's holiday after seeing that. We've stayed twice now, and I loved it both times. Our first time, we had a lovely front room with a balcony that we called the red room. It was really comfortable, and the manager was very friendly. I gave him a handwritten letter to pass on to Colin Morgan when filming started again three months later. He kept his promise, and I received a hand-signed photo of Merlin, Colin Morgan, in the post. It was a dream come true, since Merlin is one of my favourite BBC shows. The manager told me he'd give Colin my letter when he checked in at reception, and it was really kind of him to do that. As someone with Autism, I found the place Autistic friendly and really enjoyed my stay. I hope to come back in the future. I spent close to six months here in total and would be happy to visit again. It's a historic building right in the centre of Villiers, and having rooms with kitchens is a big advantage. The owners and staff were caring and made it feel like home, and they speak good English. I saw the ownership change hands, and both Brunet and Philipe were excellent at looking after guests.

The staff were super nice, but the room was below standard and had a strong cigarette smell.

The area was peaceful, with restaurants and bakeries right outside the door. Beautiful place, and the staff were very nice.
