Hôtel des Congrès

I arrived expecting to stay because I had a reservation, only to find it had been cancelled. Nobody had emailed or called me, and they made no effort to find a solution. Parking outside was a mess too, with no spaces available. A really poor experience.

The staff at reception were very helpful, and there’s secure garage parking. My room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, and breakfast was great. It’s about a 40-minute walk to the centre, or a 10-minute walk to the tram and metro.

The quiet neighborhood and easy transport options make this a nice base for spending time in Lyon. There’s plenty to do nearby, including things for kids, and the secured parking connects directly to the hotel. I’d love it even more if you could charge the car in the same place. The hotel does a very good job welcoming families, and the renovated rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The family rooms have a lot of space. I do like staying here, although a few things took away from it this time. Breakfast was good, but the selection was more limited this year, there were no fried eggs, and nobody explained anything when I arrived in my room. The staff member seemed focused on taking the room number and not on helping beyond that. Still, it’s a good place for families, especially if you’re visiting Lyon for a break.

The hotel has good public transport connections, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was decent, and they kindly let us leave our luggage for the day. It was a comfortable stay. Finding the entrance took a bit of effort at first because some nearby streets are dead ends, but that’s not the hotel’s fault.
