Hostellerie Du Mas De Bouvau

The setting was especially welcome in the heat, with a pool to cool off in and shady places beneath the olive trees. Mas de Bouveau is also well placed for Orange, Avignon, Châteauneu-du-Pape, and the pretty villages toward Mont Ventoux. Our room was roomy and nicely furnished, and we felt at ease throughout. Breakfast came with plenty of variety and homemade treats, and the dinner we had there one night was fantastic. Thanks again to the Hertzog family. We'd love to return.

We tried the communal table one evening, and the meal was absolutely delicious. The pool was a real treat in the heat, too. We stayed two nights as a family and found it a beautiful place, with Mr. and Mrs. Hertzog giving us a very warm welcome. I'd highly recommend it.

The hosts were welcoming while still giving us space, and I felt right at home in this farmhouse with its family feel. We couldn't make use of the pool during our visit, though I would have loved a swim. A very warm welcome.

The surprise menu won us over every time, with lovingly prepared food made from fresh ingredients. The wine list focuses ambitiously on local choices, and the rooms are comfortable. Wolfram Siebeck recommended the hotel in a book from twenty years ago; the owners are still the same, though their son now runs the restaurant. It has that feel of "Old France." I'll definitely come back.
