10/10
It’s a small, warm and comfortable old-fashioned hotel beside the train station, and the manager/owner was friendly and helpful, with good English. The bathroom could use a bit of updating, but otherwise it’s very good value.

Dinner was great and the prices were very reasonable. The room was comfortable and very clean, and the location is ideal for the train station. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the host speaks good English, which helped with our limited French. We’ll definitely stay again on our next trip.

The wait to get in was unsettling: we couldn’t reach staff on arrival, and beggars were gathered around the car while we waited. Inside, the concrete-walled building felt dark and very downmarket. It was inexpensive, but didn’t feel like a bargain.

Benoit provides a friendly, inexpensive stay, with comfortable rooms and basic but tasty food. At those prices, don’t expect luxury. Keep in mind the restaurant and bar are closed on Sunday evening, when there’s little choice in town. If you’re there for a couple of days, you can head north for a walk in the gorge de la vire, starting at Bures les Monts.

A friendly host and comfortable rooms made this a good place to break our journey. There’s free Wi-Fi, and we’re looking forward to breakfast.
