4/10
The restaurant’s four-course formule for €49 sounded good, but the food quality was disappointing. The foie gras duo, which cost an extra €7, had quite a few veins. The prawns (gambas) tasted off and didn’t seem fresh, and the beef was very chewy. We told the Manager about the beef. He said he’d remove it from the bill, but then charged us after pulling it apart with his fingers and saying we hadn’t cut it thinly enough against the grain. Those were his words. At least the desserts and cheese were great. The first batch of bread was stale, though the second was fresh. The server transferred bread between baskets with her hands, which seemed odd when she could have used tongs. There’s much better food out there, and this restaurant doesn’t represent the region. This review is about the restaurant, not the hotel.

The garden is across the street from the hotel, while the outdoor pool is around 250 metres away in its own landscaped garden. We found the hotel very nice, the restaurant good for breakfast or dinner, and everyone friendly. They speak English.

We had a lovely hotel in a quiet, attractive town, and it made an ideal base for our kayaking holiday.
