Hotel Restaurant l'Eau Vive

A quiet, basic campsite, but clean, and we had a great stay. It’s just a five-minute walk to the lake. There was no toilet paper or toilet seats, though.

Camping A l'Eau Vive is in a quiet town beside the lake of Longemer, with plenty to do nearby. The pitches are well kept, fairly large, and beside a stream. The friendly couple who run the campsite are very helpful, and they offer fresh bread each morning, plus evening meals and snacks. The sanitary facilities are clean and modern, and showers are included in the price. The stay costs very little. I’d recommend it and would love to come back.

We had a horrible stay. Right next to the campsite is a rental frat house where music went on until 04:30am, and the phone couldn’t be reached outside office hours, so there was no way to get help. There was mould in the bathrooms that had been painted over. Camping from hell. Avoid at all costs.

I thought this was a lovely, simple, quiet campsite. The owners are very friendly, and there’s a small river behind it. The sanitary block is very clean and has a washer and dryer. There’s also a simple restaurant and hotel attached, with lovely food. It’s a great base for exploring the nearby mountains and WW1 monuments. A short walk takes you to the lake or to the linen shops, where towels, drapes, and bed covers have big rebates.
