Villa Tigliola

The pool area is lovely, and the views from around the property are incredible. There’s also a home theater, though we didn’t use it. We asked about using the well-equipped barbecue area and were told it wasn’t possible. Breakfast was adequate, and they seem to offer three options at different prices and levels, but nobody really explained them to us. We got pretty much the same thing each day, a few fruits and bread to help ourselves to. The coffee machine was great. We were there with another couple a few weeks ago. It’s an unusual place, apparently built as a private home and only recently turned into a sort of B&B. The property is fantastic and has a lot of potential, but there are caveats. It felt as if the owner had somewhat abandoned it. The three employees on site, Younis, Sophie and a young woman, were eager to help, though at times they seemed a bit on vacation themselves. There are lots of small jobs that need doing before this could feel like a five star stay. Cleanliness isn’t its strong point, with spiderwebs everywhere, and hoses left lying around uncoiled. Seeing employees tanning in the afternoon added to a strange vibe. Our top floor room was spacious, with a very nice king bed and good sheets. But the rain shower didn’t work, only the handheld one did. There was no lock on the sliding door, no safe, and no toiletries. Our towels weren’t changed. I think you can request maid service if you want it, but we didn’t. The whole place felt very laissez faire. It’s a spectacular property with multimillion euro value, but also a bit bizarre. I suspect they’re hoping to sell it to a private owner and are just covering the presumably high bills until a buyer steps in. I don’t think I’d go back, or at least I’d return with lower expectations.
