We slept well in a bed that was nearly too soft, and the nights were very quiet. The old building has plenty of character, the owners are friendly, and there’s lots to see nearby for a weekend away. Breakfast was tasty and just the right size, though it’s a pity the croissants weren’t fresh. One thing to know: the dividing wall between the bathrooms in rooms 1 and 2 is wafer thin, so at times we couldn’t tell whether we were talking or hearing the people next door.

We were so pleased to find this little gem. The food was lovely, and the peaceful garden and surrounding views made for a really calm atmosphere. I’d especially recommend the crab cakes and honey cider.

We didn’t try the tea, but everything we ate was homemade. The cheddar cheese scone was baked really well, and the wholemeal bread in my fish finger sandwich was tasty too. It’s a charming old house turned into a restaurant, with a lovely garden.

The food was glorious and well priced, and they even welcomed our dogs with treats. A lovely little gem. Thanks, we’ll be back.

We sat outside on the sunny terrace, which looks over the main street and church tower from a pretty garden with a pond and wishing well. The building is partly thatched, with tables inside too. There’s a good selection of sandwiches, paninis, wraps and light meals, all beautifully presented and very reasonably priced. I enjoyed the Greek salad (£8.50). The afternoon teas looked huge and spectacular, and there were plenty of teas and coffees, plus wine and beer.
