The beds were warm and comfortable, and the staff were very polite. Breakfast was excellent each morning, compliments to the staff. I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it.

There was no heating in the middle of winter, and they didn’t even light a fire. Who wants to sit in a pub wearing their coat? The kitchen had opened that weekend, and I can’t find the words for the experience.

We ended up here after deciding to abandon an unfortunate booking elsewhere. The owner said there were no rooms left, but after we explained what had happened, she kindly offered us one. The toilets in that room didn’t work, but we accepted it. She charged us £80 for the night, including breakfast, which was very good. The inn deserves a better rating than it has now. It’s a bit run down, but the owner is doing exceptional work to keep it going.

We had a delicious, good-value fish and chips dinner, served quickly. When we arrived at 6.30pm, there was nobody else there and no staff in sight, but the owner soon appeared, welcomed us, and let us sit anywhere with our dog. We picked the quirky, warm conservatory, which felt like our own private dining room. By the time we left, the pub had filled up. A lovely little pub in a beautiful place.

Tina, the landlady, really is top notch. The rooms are beautiful, the food was delicious, and the location is amazing. This little hidden gem is a top-class spot, and I can’t recommend it enough.
