The Cornerstone Room was spacious, spotless, and had a bed we slept wonderfully in. Each morning we could hear the stream, and we enjoyed strolling around the grounds and along the public footpath down the lane. Pen y Fan is about a 10 minute drive away, and the waterfall walk is around 15 minutes. Both get busy later in the day, so an early start helps. We spent 3 nights here over the bank holiday weekend and loved it. The place is gorgeous and peaceful, yet close enough to town for the pub, The Red Lion (book ahead), or a grocery shop. There’s a shared mini-fridge for snacks and drinks. Breakfast had several delicious options, and we arranged dinner one night too. The chili was incredible. A rare gem. If it’s available, book it. Thanks so much, Mike and Caroline!

We had dinner at the guest house and really enjoyed the delicious home cooked food. The location also works well for exploring this part of Wales, especially if you’re into walking or bird watching. Caroline and Mike gave us a lovely welcome and did everything they could to make our two night stay enjoyable. The Stable was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. We’d make this our first choice when we come back to the area.

Mike and Caroline were great hosts, with good food, clean rooms, and plenty of help with questions about local walks and places to eat. The countryside setting was just what my boyfriend and I wanted for a peaceful break, with green fields and a few sheep around us. The mountains are only a short drive away. We’d happily stay again if we get the chance.

Caroline had maps and directions ready as soon as we mentioned wanting a walk. Before long, we were heading out on a 10 mile hike with a packed lunch and several laminated guides. The dining room’s two huge maps, partly covered with photos of local sights, were a useful talking point while we planned places to see around the Brecon Beacons. The Hayloft had everything we needed, from mini toiletries and a kettle to several hot drink options. They even left lovely fruit cake, replenished it the next day, and provided two decent fans for the warm weather. The house itself has lovely details throughout, and breakfast was delicious: full English or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, with freshly made fruit salad, toast and homemade jams, plus yogurt and fruit juices. There are sheep fields around the guest house and 9 pet sheep of its own. You’ll want a car to get around, or a bike or good walking boots. Local takeaways deliver for a £3 charge, and The Red Lion, 2 miles away, is worth a visit for food, but book. We’ve just left after a couple of nights and I’m already sad to be going home. Thanks, C & M. Can’t wait to return.

The gardens are lovely for a bit of pottering, and there are great walks a short drive away, including 4 waterfalls and pen y fan. We got good advice about where to walk locally, and the cake was lovely too. It’s a charming, attractive place, well kept and clean, with comfortable beds and nice attention to detail. The lounge is well furnished and good for relaxing or playing games. Breakfast was reliably good, especially the fresh fruit, and the service was attentive.
