The Falcon Inn Retreat

I’ve been staying here for about 3 months, and Sue is amazing. The room and the host are well beyond what I expected. I can’t give them enough credit.

I arrived late in the evening to find that my confirmed reservation had been cancelled, with no advance notice, email, call, or explanation. I’d received an email on the day of arrival with directions for getting there, so the cancellation was a shock and left me stranded. Staff offered no real help finding another place, gave no apology or sense of responsibility, and offered no compensation. The communication was unacceptable. Edit: If booking.com accepted the reservation automatically, why did you send us directions? That shows you had a way to contact us. We didn’t call that late, it was between 9 and 10pm. The hotel didn’t look full either. There were maybe 5 cars in the car park and many more rooms.

A stay at the Falcon gives you things you can only really appreciate in person: the air, the view, the quiet, Sue, and even the owner's dog. Tourist boards might not recognize those little things, but they’re part of what makes the place special.

It’s basic, not luxurious, but has what you need if you’re just looking for somewhere to stay while hiking. Sue, the owner, is lovely and very helpful.
