A few weeks ago I went there for cake and coffee and sat opposite the cake stand. After serving someone, the young assistant picked up the slicer, put it in her mouth, then set it down. When I questioned the hygiene, I was told not to come back. As if I would.

We had a relaxing lunch by the riverside, then went for a walk around the beach, church and secret nuclear bunker. Three of us ordered the Celtica burgers with chips and salad, all delicious and generous portions, and there was as much tea as we could drink. The ladies working there were friendly, chatty and looked after us so well. We went back later for more tea and cake, which was just as nice.

The beach is lovely and just outside, past the car park. I dropped into the cafe as it was opening, was greeted with a smile and had a nice chat while they made me two lovely lattes. A proper cup of coffee. If you enjoy decent bean-to-cup coffee, I highly recommend it.
