For a very affordable stay, I had everything I needed. There was a microwave, fridge, ironing board and iron, hair dryer, TV and electric kettle. The kitchen was the best part, since you can use it to cook. I sometimes heard creaking noises, but it really wasn’t bad. Good value for the money.

The room was quiet and spacious, and I’d definitely stay again, especially at the offer price I got. Great for a night out in Aberdeen. The Terra Nova Hotel is right in the city centre, just off Union Street, and it’s about a 9-minute walk to Union Square, the train station and the bus station. For that location, I thought the price was very reasonable. I also appreciated having a fridge and microwave, which I rarely see when travelling around Scotland, along with tea, coffee, milk and bathroom products. Check-in was confusing at first. I’d booked online and expected to get straight in, but the main door was locked and I wasn’t sure how to enter. There was a notice on the door, and when I called the hotel it said they were closed for the day. Luckily, I then noticed a leaflet for another hotel with a mobile number for the same person. Once I got through, check-in was quick and easy. What a bargain.

The shared kitchen in the basement is open to all guests, and the price is affordable compared with nearby places. I stayed for two nights and found the room very clean, with loads of facilities. There was heating, towels, a microwave, dryer, plates, crockery, cutlery, TV, kettle and mini fridge, all in the single room. The bathroom had gels, a towel and a humidifier. This is an honest review of my stay, 25-27 Feb.

A really handy place, easy to find and close to the train and bus stations. I got the secure access and room code by email in advance, so self check-in was quick and easy. I was travelling alone and felt safe, and liked having a chain on the room door. The owners seem to care about guests’ comfort. They call it a no frills guesthouse, but my clean, warm and cozy room had a microwave, plate and cutlery, mini fridge, extra blanket, hairdryer, toiletries, and even Fairtrade tea, sugar and biscuits. The shower was lovely and hot. Excellent value. I forgot my charger, but the owner called me the same day and offered to post it since I couldn’t come back to collect it. I’d stay again.
