Travelodge Aberdeen Bucksburn

Travelodge Bucksburn was warm even with the winter weather in Aberdeen being cold, windy, and rainy all day. It’s about a five-minute walk to bus stops, shops, and restaurants, and buses make it feasible to reach both the city centre and airport. Kingswells’ business area is a 10-15 minute drive away. Compared with a couple of downtown hotels where I’ve stayed, this one had the biggest room. It was clean and comfortable, almost like home, and the lighting was lovely. Wi-Fi and parking cost extra, though you get 30 minutes of Wi-Fi free each day. There are USB and USB-C charging ports. Good value for the money.

The hotel itself was okay, but be careful about the parking rules. Reception never explained the situation, and even when I asked, I couldn’t get a clear answer. I ended up paying over £400 for my four-night stay. Travelodge took no responsibility for it, of course. Why would they?

This was my third stay, and the rooms have been very good each time. It’s really economical, and this time there were even USB-C ports by the bed. The room and bathroom were clean, and the bed was comfortable. I did hear a plane landing this morning. Just remember the overnight parking costs £3.

We were blown away by the manager’s gesture. After I mentioned the lack of snow for that time of year, he seemed almost apologetic. The next morning there was an envelope under our door with what it described as an all-expenses trip to Lapland for three, including a stay in the world’s first 7-star hotel and reindeer rides. There was another voucher too, for an all-inclusive two-week stay at Barbados' chief resort, plus a bottle of lemonade. The note said, “Just in case you like summer too.” It must have cost him thousands. He wasn’t there when we left, so we couldn’t thank him in person. Lovely December stay, and cheers, Travelodge.
