That was a really enjoyable dinner in a fantastic setting. The house haggis was next level, and the lamb was cooked just right. We finished with sticky toffee pudding and loved the whole meal.

We were staying nearby and stopped in for drinks a couple of times. The views and location are great, and there’s plenty of parking. The staff were polite and welcoming, and we were glad to try some local ales.

We came back after three years because we remembered how good the food was, and it was just as incredible this time. There were four of us with different dietary needs, and everyone found something. My mum was especially pleased with the vegetarian dish. Credit to the chef!

It’s about a 15-minute walk from Aberfeldy, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with great showers. The hosts are among the friendliest I’ve met. They ask about your plans and remember what you told them the day before. Breakfast has juices and cereals to choose from, plus one of the best cooked breakfasts. The poached eggs were amazing. It’s dog friendly too.

We had dinner both nights, and the new menu had plenty of choice for different diets. Portions were generous and everything was delicious. I especially loved the veggie haggis and beetroot Wellington with creamy mash, turnip and onion jus. I asked for the recipe and was lucky enough to get it, so it’ll be the main dish for the veggies on Christmas Day. The hotel is just outside Aberfeldy, with lovely views from the restaurant and bar, where there’s a cosy wood burner. We had a comfortable stay, and the whole team made us and our dog, Bramble, feel welcome. Thanks for looking after us so well. We’ll be back! Hamish and Shirley
