The Weem Inn

We only stayed one night and were sorry we missed the evening meal on arrival. Breakfast in the restaurant was exceptional, and nobody hurried or pressured us to finish. We had a double room and a family room, both clean and spacious, with very comfortable beds. The staff were welcoming too.

I spent three nights here for photography and hiking around Schiehallion, and it suited me perfectly as a base for getting outdoors. There’s no food at the hotel, but Aberfeldy has plenty of options nearby. My room was basic but comfortable, with what seemed like a fairly new bathroom, and a lovely hillside view. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the place has a quirky, home-away-from-home feel. There’s no TV in the room, which I actually liked. It was much nicer to unwind looking out at that view. I’d recommend it to hikers, cyclists and others wanting to explore the area.

John & Dom and the rest of the staff made us feel thoroughly welcome during our one-night stay. It’s a homely, informal hotel and a good base for cycling adventures. There’s no chef at present, but we were allowed to use the kitchen, which was a godsend because my partner has all sorts of specific food requirements. We’d highly recommend it and would like to come back to explore the area more.

At least we had an excellent meal at the GFT (good food takeaway) in town. The hotel itself has plenty of potential, but the owners or managers seem uninterested in maintaining it. The rooms and furniture are just old, not rustic, and we didn’t feel welcome when we arrived. There was no food or drink available, and the hallways on the top floor were dark. I’d recommend skipping this place and staying in town.
