46 Marine Terrace

The beach is lovely, but the area wasn't very dog friendly. There seemed to be nothing but pavements and no grass for miles, and pee puddles and smells were all over the place. I won't stay here again at that price. Breakfast hasn't happened yet, so I can't comment on it. Our room was very small, although it had what was advertised, and I found chocolate crumbs in the dressing table drawer. It hadn't been cleaned properly after the previous stay. The electric shower worked well but was so loud it might make you go deaf if you stayed under it too long. There was no phone or information in the room, and nothing was explained at check-in. I had to look up the hotel's number online and use my mobile to call about bin liners. When the receptionist came up to check the Wi-Fi, since there was no connection and no password in the room, I asked them to take our rubbish, but they didn't, so we carried it down ourselves. Parking was advertised as available, but it was all taken when we arrived. Reception directed us to a paid council car park, which was very inconvenient with a dog and lots of luggage to unload and carry up.

We enjoyed the sea front views from the studio apartment, but the carpets inside were dirty. We could hear people on the first floor walking and talking so loudly that it disturbed us at night. We also had to limit our own walking and talking at night because it disturbed the people in the basement apartment. Parking was a big problem. Even with an overflow car park, it was full more than a couple of times when we returned from a day out. The oven wasn't working either, though reception had it fixed within a few hours of us reporting it.

The room was disgusting, and I felt dirty staying there. I had to clear years' worth of hair and dirt out of the shower drain myself. It was vile. There was chewing gum under the dining table too. My understanding is that the owner used to run a care home that was closed down because she doesn't care and only cares about the money.

Wonderful room and views, and an excellent hotel.
