This is about Maes Bach Guest House, which seems to be linked online and shares the address, not Maes-Y-Mor. My booking was cancelled the day before I was due to arrive, even though I'd reserved months earlier and had been told I got the last room. I'm still unsure how someone else could supposedly have booked it too. The host asked if I was with the Rally, and there was a Rally scout car on the drive. It seemed to me that the venue may have cancelled me for someone who booked for the Rally, perhaps after a more lucrative last-minute offer. I felt disposable. They did suggest another place to stay, but asked me to keep their written confirmation away from Booking.com. The communications felt odd, and I became anxious and distrustful. I'd booked so far in advance to avoid exactly this situation. I'm sure it may be a nice place, but this experience was poor. Has this happened to anyone else?

The location is great, just by the sea front. I've stayed at this little guest house three times now, mainly when visiting our child at uni. The bedroom is comfortable and clean, and the shared bathroom was clean too. Parking at the back is useful, although spaces can be tight.

We paid £60 a night to be just seconds from the beach, and the location was great. I'd definitely stay again. The decor felt a bit uncoordinated, but who cares? It was pretty clean, though not perfect, and I liked having a communal kitchen. I met some lovely people and had a curryokie night. Parking, though, was absolutely terrible. We had to move the car at least six times in three days, so be ready for that if you're driving.

We didn't have breakfast here, but that's no real drawback, with plenty of places to eat a few minutes' walk away. The owners were helpful, sent clear check-in instructions, answered our questions promptly, and recommended a lovely evening meal. The shared kitchen was a bonus and meant we could save money by not eating out. Rooms were clean, tidy, and had what we needed. The guest house is quaint and pleasant, right in the town centre, close to the beach and everything else.

The rooms are basic but pretty good, and the mattress was adequate, though not the best. The top-floor shower was unacceptable, with so little water pressure that it basically didn't work.
