Cathy makes a hot breakfast to order, and we really enjoyed it. The rooms were clean, comfortable and sweet, too. From the start, Cathy and her sweet husband, Sandy, welcomed us with open arms and treated us like family. The location is well placed for lots of great attractions, including Stirling Castle, which shouldn’t be missed. Such a wonderful place to stay, you won’t be disappointed.

We visited from Canada and stayed three nights. Kathy and Sandy were lovely hosts who couldn’t do enough for us, and their suggestions for places to visit and things to see were invaluable. Each morning we had a generous cooked breakfast, plus cereal and yogurt, which made it very good value overall. The rooms were spotlessly clean and worked well for our short stay. We were four people in two rooms, and it would have been nice to have a lounge or common room where we could spend time together, since the rooms weren’t big enough for that. A small disappointment, but not a major drawback. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and appreciated the service. The friendly, welcoming people at the pub next door, The Railway, made it a good place to gather in the evening. I have no hesitation recommending Shawlee Cottage Bed and Breakfast.

I came across this B&B on Maps and felt lucky to find it. Kathy and Sandy were so kind, made me feel at home on my trip, and gave me helpful tips for visiting this part of Scotland. The house, room, garden and breakfast were all great. It’s well situated too, 15 minutes from Glasgow, 30 minutes from Stirling and 35 minutes from Edinburgh. Thanks again for everything.

Cathy and Sandy made us feel so welcome, and nothing seemed too much trouble. We stayed for three nights and will be back. The rooms were clean and nicely presented, with tea and coffee facilities and a TV. Breakfast was superb, with cereal, a full cooked Scottish breakfast, toast, jams and marmalade, or simpler options like boiled or poached eggs. Thank you both for such a friendly stay.

We spent four nights here with friends across three rooms and had a lovely stay. The cottage has private parking at the rear and is in a good location. Cathy and Sandy were very friendly and shared useful information, including good suggestions for places to visit and eat. We got a warm welcome, the accommodation was excellent, the rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. Highly recommend!
