The Forge

We stayed for the Tuesday quiz at 9.00pm and had a great time. The staff were super friendly, helpful and attentive. We also had a lovely meal, cottage pie and steak and mushroom pie, with loads of vegetables. Prices were reasonable.

The team at The Forge made the stay feel personal from the start. Everyone, from the bar staff to the kitchen crew, was warm, attentive and welcoming, even when it was busy. The chef deserves a special mention, his food was excellent and you could see the care he put into each dish. I stayed three days in this quiet, immaculate and thoughtfully arranged room, and slept well every night. Breakfast each morning was superb, with a full English cooked just right. Dinner was a highlight as well: Sea Bass on the first night, duck breast on the second, and lasagne on the last. I wish I'd had time to try the whole menu. The Forge is a lovely country pub and hotel in Aislaby, close to Whitby. My short break was full of warmth and hospitality. I'm already planning to come back in the summer, and will be recommending it to everyone I know. A great place to stay, eat and unwind in North Yorkshire.

A big thank you to everyone at The Forge, especially Sam, who welcomed us on the first night, and Beth, who was a real tonic throughout the stay. Nothing was too much trouble, and we can't thank her enough. We spent three nights there with friends who'd been going through a difficult time. Every evening meal and breakfast was amazing and cooked to perfection. We highly recommend this gem.

Our room looked out over fields of sheep and was wonderfully quiet. Breakfast was high quality and cooked exactly as we asked. We didn't try the bar or restaurant downstairs because we'd already booked to eat elsewhere. It's a lovely inn just outside Whitby, a short drive from the local Park and Ride. We arrived a little early while the inn was closed, having missed a message earlier in the day. The staff were having an early meal but still opened up for us, and gave us a lovely welcome. We'd definitely stay here again.
