Just to clarify, this is an eight-room self-catering rental listed on Sally's Cottages. Google seems confused about it. It's neither a hotel nor a collection of separate lodges.

We'd love to come back. The hosts were welcoming and knew plenty about the area, which really added to our stay. Our room was just right, with a lovely view, and the whole place was spacious and clean while still feeling like home. Breakfast was wonderful, with both traditional and vegetarian choices. The evening menu looked good too, though we'd already planned to eat elsewhere. Thanks, I'd happily recommend it.

The owners were so welcoming and happy to answer any questions. Breakfast was really nice, with plenty to choose from, and we tried the set dinner menu on our last night. It was yummy. We stayed four nights in July 2015, and Room 4 was clean and tidy, with a great bathroom and brilliant views. There was tea-making stuff in the room, plus free tea or coffee in the comfy shared lounge. They also had a little DVD library to borrow from and watch in your room. There are decent pubs nearby, including the recommended Queens Head in Hawkshead. Go Ape is about five minutes up the road, with its only zip trek adventure at a Go Ape. Five stars, would recommend. Grizedale forest is nearby for walks, and Coniston and Windermere are easy to reach from here. Richard and Debby made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The lodge is decorated beautifully and has a real country house feel. Breakfast was cooked just right, and dinner was well worth ordering. I'll be back, and would tell friends and family to use this as their Lake District base.
