We stayed at Hillsdale as part of my 70th birthday celebrations, and what a treat it was. Steve and Caz made us feel welcome without ever imposing. The guest house is right in the town centre, with shops, eateries, and pubs just a few metres away, so the location worked perfectly for everything we needed. The rooms are superb, with artistic decor and careful attention to detail. The quality beds and pillows made for a restful night. Breakfast is cooked from scratch, with a very good and comprehensive menu, and the cooked food was superb. I can’t wait to visit again and would highly recommend Hillsdale to any discerning guests.

Caz & Steve were excellent hosts, and the breakfast was plentiful and spot on. The location was perfect, too. We had a great overnight stay, with a cosy, clean room, comfortable bed and pillows, and a good night’s sleep. Would definitely recommend 👍 🙂

Hillsdale was spotless and nicely furnished, and its location in town was great. Caz &Steve were lovely hosts who made us feel right at home, and nothing was too much trouble. We had a last-minute accommodation nightmare, but thankfully Hillsdale had a room available. Steve & Caz reserved it for us while we got things sorted, and they were so welcoming and happy to help. It’s a beautiful, warm place to stay, and breakfast was included and great. Couldn’t recommend it enough, and we look forward to coming back :)

Steve and Caz were superb hosts, professional, very friendly, and accommodating. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they gave us a car park space, which was ideal. The guest house is in an excellent central spot for exploring Ambleside and the surrounding area. My partner and I stayed over the May Bank Holiday weekend for a well-earned break and a couple of days hiking. Our second-floor room was great for a couple for a few days, with good facilities and kept very clean. Breakfast was amazing, with plenty of choice, great quality, and really tasty. We’d highly recommend this little gem and would love to return!
