The whole house felt warm and cosy, beautifully decorated and comfortable, with lovely themed paintings in our room and around the guesthouse. Breakfasts were fantastic. The owner was incredibly welcoming, showed us around and let us check in two hours early, which we really appreciated. Staff were friendly and helpful, and on our last day they kindly looked after our luggage until our evening train. We loved our two-night stay at The Gables Guesthouse and would happily come back to Ambleside.

The staff were so friendly and helpful that I felt right at home. My room at The Gables Guesthouse in Ambleside was cosy, the view was beautiful, and the bed was so comfortable I slept like a baby. Breakfast was amazing, with lots of options and a particularly nice touch in the yogurt. The place has a warm, welcoming feel. I’d love to stay again on my next trip to the Lake District.

We had a dog-friendly room for two nights, and breakfast was delicious. The free parking at the back was a bonus, too. The Gables is right in the centre of Ambleside, a handy base for exploring and lovely walks, with the lake only a short walk away. Everyone working there was accommodating and lovely. I’d stay again and recommend it.

The location is excellent for a walking weekend in the Lakes, and the room, while basic, had everything I needed. It was warm and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, served in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Rohan was a delight, welcoming and attentive, and the rest of the staff were just as good. I’d definitely stay again and look forward to it.

The rooms were ready early, and our host kindly let us park early as well. The staff were so friendly, and the location is perfect, only a two-minute walk from the centre. We were on the top floor with a mountain view, and the road was quiet at night. Breakfast was really nice with plenty of choice. The gables was fantastic, and we’ll definitely return.
