YHA Langdale - Hostel

The food was awful, and the dining hall tables were sticky and unhygienic. The shop was pricey too, at £2 for a small chocolate bar. There were chunks missing from the ceiling, and a huge hole around the fire alarm, which made the build quality look careless. The rooms in the photos weren’t the ones we were given. Ours had no lock for privacy, the windows wouldn’t open, the mattress was uncomfortable, and there were bed bugs. Getting up the narrow road is difficult, especially for a large coach bringing a big group. It seemed like a lovely place at first, but I wouldn’t come here. DONT COME HERE!!!!

The bedrooms could use dim lamps for getting up at night to use the loo. Apart from that, the beds were comfortable, and the building has been updated with good quality toilets and washrooms. There’s also a log burner in the main hall. I came for a singing weekend and had a great time.

A friendly place and a great base for hiking, with good service and prices. The pool table and quite a few board games were broken or missing pieces, though. Otherwise, it was great!

We come to YHA Langdale for our annual singing weekend and love it. The beds are comfortable and the place is lovely and warm. It’s Cumbria, so access is what you’d expect, and it’s a heritage building with practical comforts and beautiful scenery. You’re there to enjoy the outdoors, not sit inside. Some complaints in these reviews seem odd to me. The bedroom windows open because you’re there for fresh air; if you’re too hot, turn off the radiator. It’s a YHA, so expect to share. I can’t fault Langdale YHA. Stay at home if that’s not for you.
